Bllllllack Friday OOTD!

I just want to say that I am not a Black Friday shopper at all. At all. And that might be because I have anxiety at the thought of fighting people for deals or because nothing has seem important enough for me to wait in lines in the cold/rain for hours on end. But I will say that I was excited to work Black Friday this year at Claire's! My manager texted me this morning to wear all black in celebration of Black Friday and you will never guess who forgot to pack black leggings and did not have a black top on hand...This girl. But after a quick trip to the store (clearance rack!) and $28 later I had my Black Friday outfit!
Black fleece-lined leggings
Peter Pan collar lace tank
Black camisole under
Black Blazer
Leopard Steve Madden loafers
Red lips!

I decided that a red lip would look nice with my black outfit and leopard loafers and I flat ironed my hair, threw on some Claire's jewelry that I bought last summer and I was off to work! It was not too busy tonight, but I enjoyed getting back into the swing of things back at my store! I will be returning over my winter break, so expect a Claire's haul at some point!

Fall Day in Sacramento

So one of my favorite reasons for going to school at Sac State is how campus looks in fall. In short, it is the most breathtaking campus in the world. I will stop there and just put up a picture I had on Instagram.

It is so pretty here! And there are some red trees on the other side of campus, maybe I'll trek there next week!

Red Pants!

I got the best compliment ever on this outfit today, someone asked me "Since when did you become Martha Stewart?" And to be completely honest, it made me smile. Except the whole jail thing, I really do like Martha Stewart! But that wasn't necessarily what I was going for when I got dressed. So here is my outfit!

Shoes-From Last Christmas
Blouse-Mom's Closet!

I look for any excuse to wear these pants.

Thanksgiving Date

So for those of us that do not live close to home (I'm only an hour and a half away, but sometimes it feels like years in the car!) that means that we do not have the luxury of being able to go to both our houses and our significant other's house for Thanksgiving. This is the second year in a row that this has happend to Chris and me. So for the second year in a row we made our own Thanksgiving! We keep it super simple, I do not have the skills (yet!) or time to make an entire Thanksgiving dinner for two. So here are a few simple ideas on how to create a simple Thanksgiving date for two!

Dinner:
-Bread
-Canned Cranberries
-Sliced Turkey
-Instant Mashed Potatoes

I love this date and I almost forgot about it. Because I am on duty this weekend in my building I had to have Chris pick up all of the supplies. He was super sweet and the only reason he had not offered before was because he thought I was going to surprise him, so I am glad that I did ask. So once you prepare your sandwich the way that you like (Chris: just turkey, bread and mustard. Samantha: turkey, cranberries, and mashed potatoes) then you just sit down and be thankful to be in love with the person of your dreams (or just get to know each other!!) and enjoy the Thanksgiving spirit.

Thanksgiving Sandwich (the name of my masterpiece), our dinner, and the two of us in love!

Disclaimer: I am not baled! I wore a hair donut in my hair that did not show in the pictures!

Lazy Fall Day Outfit

So as it is my Duty Weekend (last one of the semester!) I have gotten a lot of cleaning and organizing done, but I have yet to start my homework. So I took some time after some lunch to curl my hair and put on some makeup. Weekends where I have to stay on campus are always nicer when I have my hair done and my face on! And it gives me practice at perfecting makeup techniques! So here is my version of a "lazy fall day" out fit.
From my head to my toes:
-Bangs pulled back on curly hair with bobby pins
-Brown baggy t-shirt
-Stripped sweater cardigan
-Black capri leggings
-My Target boots (which I have always called TUGGS).
I love looking nice!

Doorstop!

So as an RA we like to have our doors open so that students can always come see us! But up until a few days ago I was stuffing a flip-flop in my door to prop it open. Not cute. I got a wooden doorstop and some hot pink paint and glitter nail polish and now I have a beautiful doorstop!

Materials You Will Need:
-Paint (Any type of paint will do, in any color I chose a washable paint)
-Glitter Nail Polish (Probably 1/3-1/2 a bottle)
-Wooden Doorstop!

I took this picture after I finished my doorstop so that's why I didn't include a "before" picture.

Just so you know, my doorstep took four coats of paint--waiting for each coat to dry in between. This project took a couple of days to complete in my free time. So I know you're all dying to see--the finished product!:

So pretty! I love having my door open and propping it with this piece of art!

Girl's Night RA Program

So last night I had a program in my building with some of the ladies (and gentlemen) in my building. My coworker and I hosted this program together and our goal was to have a program promoting body image.

So when we sat down we decided that a "Girl's Night" theme would be best and we wanted to have an activity that had to do with common girl's night activities. So I said I would find a facial to do on Pinterest and in the end I decided that we would do this facial. It was an orange juice/baking soda face mask. All you have to do is combine enough baking soda in orange juice to make a paste and then rub it all over your face! The blogger said that this facial is great at removing blackheads and the acid in the orange juice will tighten your pores and the vitamin C brightens your face. I can agree with all of the above, when doing the face mask (see pictures below) I could feel my blackheads being pulled out of my skin and other people that did the facial with me would agree!

Wearing the orange juice/baking soda facial!

We also wanted to do an activity that would help the girls bond with each other especially if they were not necessarily good friends in the hall. Let's face it, often times if you live on the first floor of the building you don't venture "all the way" to the third floor to hang out with people. This is not always the case, but often it is true. So we had Pick-Me-Up cups at our program as well. The idea behind the Pick-Me-Up cups is that when you are sad you can go to your cup, pull out a slip of paper and read something that your peer said about you that was kind/sweet/funny and it will brighten your mood. So we had the girls get a paper cup and start writing slips of paper about each other, encouraging them to write slips to people outside their group of friends that they came with. This was actually very successful and the girls actually participated and even made a couple cups for their guy friends in the building that only stopped by the program for a short while!

A couple of the notes I found in my Pick-Me-Up cup at the end of the night.

Finally, my favorite part of the program was the Barbie Box that I made! So the idea behind the Barbie Box was to show that the actual "Barbie Body" is not only extremely unhealthy, but impossible. This article was the inspiration I used to make the box. What I found interesting was the facts about how if Barbie was real she would be 6' tall, have a 39" bust, 18" waist, and 33" hips. In short, Barbie would be anorexic. We wanted all of the girls at our program to know that they are beautiful the way they are and that anyone can be Barbie!

This is my box that I made, in my room!

Team Too Organized

So most of the people that know me know that I LOVE an organized room. When I say love I mean LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!! So tonight is my duty night and I planned on doing a couple touch ups to my room including finally unpacking my winter clothes (it will be in the 50's this week!!). This is a great way to organize scarves, gloves, and your other fall/winter accessories. So I have one of those scarf-organizer hangers that you can buy for around ten bucks at Marshall's and did the following:

1. Pick out scarf-hanger wrack, here are some online choices: OneTwoThreeFourFive
2. Separate your accessories to these categories.
   -Fashion Scarves
   -Winter (warmth) Scarves
   -Gloves
   -Hats
3. Put each of these categories together in your organizer.
4. Admire your mad organization skills!

November Bulletin Board

So my November bulletin board covers the "Financial" aspect of the Wellness Wheel and my board is a Candyland theme! So the title was "The Sweet Path to Financial Responsibility" and each character from the game represented different ways to be financially responsible. It is so cute and all of the people on my floor stop by to look at it all the time!
I used the following "Financial Responsibility" categories and a short explanation of each:
   -What Is Financial Responsibility?
-App to stave and manage money
-I chose the smart phone application "Mint" and gave some pro/cons that I found on a review
   -Credit Cards
   -Couponing
   -Budgeting
   -Saving Money
-Student Discounts (Sacramento State Students and College Students Nationwide)
