Monday Night Date Night: Build-a-Bear Edition

So be warned: This date happened a couple months ago, so my hair is long! I am sorry for waiting so long to post, but I hope you enjoy!

So this date is sweet and simple, but not necessarily something you see couples do all the time! I only see boys going into Build-a-Bear to buy their girlfriends presents and I wanted a Chris Bear and Samantha Bear! There are better times to go to Build-a-Bear, so I would suggest signing up for their email list! And definitely when you pay sign up for a "Fluff for Stuff" or "Stuff for Fluff" card, you get coupons sent to your email!

So here is us at work (and just so you know, Chris wore almost that exact same outfit the other day! I didn't realize how perfect it was!):

Notes and Lists Galore!

I love note pads. And Post-Its, but especially notepads. It is something about writing out everything I need to do to stay organized and then being able to cross things off my lists. So of course when I saw a bunch of notepads at  Marshall's and I had to get one. Which might have turned into one notepad and another package of three notepads (how could I resist! They had "S"'s on them!).

This is one of those notepads that have a magnet that will keep them closed most of the time. I plan on using this one to take on my Duty Rounds with a little pen and write down if I need to put any IR's or Work Orders in!

And this is the three-pack, I actually am taking notes on other things that I want to blog about right now! And that pen is so adorable, I love everything about these notepads.

I have started to collect these things, and my stationary collection too! When I find something I like I need a ton of it. My current stationary is hot pink with cats on it! I got six packages from the dollar spot in Target. Wonderful. So anyone out there that enjoys notepads or stationary (or knows someone who does and needs a stocking stuffer gift) go to Marshall's!

Sooo...I Redid the Anniversary Present

Remember way back in March when I made Chris the shadow box for our anniversary? A place to display the Playbill, tickets, and pictures we took when we saw Les Mis? Well we did end up seeing it in August (it was amazing!) but I wanted to re-do the shadow box to make it look something like this, an "Admit One" box where we could put all of our ticket stubs because I keep all of that stuff for sentimental value. So last night while I was on duty (RA terminology meaning I was the "on call" resident advisor for the night) I re-did the box! This is how I did it!

Materials:

-12x12 Shadow Box (I chose black)

-12x12 Piece of Scrapbook Paper (or whatever size your shadow box is)

-Letter Stickers (mine were silver)

-Ticket Stubs, Playbills, or whatever else you want to put in the box!

1) Place the stickers to say "Admit One" on the scrapbooking paper

2) Place all of your stubs and whatnot in the box

3) Close the box back up

4) Optional: Cut a slit at the top of the shadow box to easily put new ticket stubs inside!

I didn't do the optional part because I didn't want to cut a slit large enough for Playbills in case we go to other plays/musicals. It's up to you but this is a really cheap gift if you are a scrapbooker like I am, I found the shadow box only for $10 and that was my total cost.

Year-and-a-Half-Versary...?

Okay so I am just going to throw this out right now, I am not a huge fan of celebrating "month milestones." I do think it is super cute if the boy (because more often than not, he will forget) remembers to say something, but for the most part it isn't important. Yesterday was Chris and myself's year and a half milestone. And it was cool, it was nice thinking about how much I love my guy and how wonderful he is. So I got him a wicked cool Batman t-shirt (because we both love him in superhero t's) and a pack of cards he collects. I also wrote him a note, we had dinner at his house and played some games with his family. I loved it because it was a special day for us, but we just did our day-to-day routine. When I got back to my building from class today I saw my first piece of mail in my box!! A letter from Chris! It was a year-and-a-half-aversery card that he had hoped to get to me yesterday, but it was perfect! I even Instagram-ed it! Here is a copy of the picture, I put two pictures of the card and a photo of the day I met Chris.

Our First Anniversary

So yesterday was my first anniversary with Chris! It was really a wonderful day. Very low-key, just the way we like it. And since we are trying our hardest to save every penny we have (well, we both splurged this anniversary, so that's another reason why we needed to save as much as possible), we decided to just make a wonderful dinner and enjoy each other's company.

So first off we started off with opening presents! I already showed you all what I made Chris, but he was so happy and excited when he got his Les Mis tickets! I know I am very excited to go in August! And He gave me the most beautiful promise ring :)

Then we ran to Safeway to pick up groceries in order to make this recipe! A whole chicken in a Crock Pot. I was a little nervous, wondering how it would turn out, but it did turn out very well and we were very satisfied. We even had enough left over for my roommates to have dinner as well! So I made a little bit of an alteration in the recipe, if you were wondering. I added carrots to the bottom of the Crock Pot because Chris and I do not like onions, and I added two cloves of garlic into the seasoning and three into the carrot bottom of the pot. The chicken took about four hours to cook on high and smelled wonderfully of garlic (if you do not like garlic, take it out!). The pictures above are the chicken in the crock pot and me holding our dinner as I prepared it!

We also had rice, fruit salad (apples, grapes, and banana), garlic bread, and cupcakes! Of course we had to have sparkling cider as well because this was such a special occasion! And with my fake candle lit (obviously, I still live in a dorm room, no real candles allowed!) we sat to our romantic dinner.

It was a wonderful day with my love. To many, many more anniversaries!

Anniversary Gift

So Chris and I have our first anniversary on Monday (I know, exciting!) and I bought us tickets to se Les Miserables in San Francisco this summer for him. but I was not going to just hand him an envelope with tickets inside! So I bought a scrapbook page shadow box onlin and decorated it as if we had already gone to the show and were putting together a little memory box. I looked up the measurments of a Playbill and made room for a picture of us and our ticket stubs. I taped the tickets inside (carefully so they can be removed of course) and now I cannot WAIT to give him his gift!
